WELCOME TO THE MT3 CONFERENCE

The MT3 conference showcases innovative medical technologies and training that improves healthcare and patient safety. The conference brings together civilian and military healthcare providers with industry and university technologists to highlight current and evolving medical discoveries and advancements in 21st Century medicine. MT3 focuses on leading-edge technology, academic trends that change the way healthcare professionals are trained (for example, using integrated curricula and medical simulations to enhance education), and highlighting new technologies that lead to better patient safety and care. Conference attendees learn about technological advancements from speakers, networking with leaders in medicine and industry, and by experiencing innovative technology and training solutions on the exhibit floor.

MT3 bridges civilian and military medicine and identifies areas of collaboration and partnership.

In their own words:
The MT3 Conference was an amazing opportunity to expand our understanding of medicine and technology, two of the most rapidly developing fields. The conference helped us integrate our learning and left a lasting impression by adding a meaningful dimension to our education. Understanding innovations such as synthetic skin, 3D ultrasonography, virtual clinics, and other upcoming technological advances not only reinforced our learning, but also made us more well-rounded and possibly ahead of the curve. As we develop into future health care professionals, we look forward to using this experience to improve quality of care for our patients.

With appreciation,
UCF College of Medicine Medical Students

Latest Discoveries

Renowned robotic thoracic surgeon, Dr. Joseph Boyer from Florida Hospital, Nicholson Center for Surgical Advancement, challenged the MT3 audience to develop a smaller device to close patients. Advocating for new and improved technology, he highlighted the fact that robotic surgical instruments are miniaturized and easy to manipulate, but after a successful surgery, surgeons are left to close with large, clunky tools.

Inspiring testimonials from a military and civilian amputees, SGT William Castillo and Theresa Sareo, held MT3 audience attention as the two shared their stories and discussed their road to recovery. They identified how the medical professionals who provided care, from the moment of impact throughout their continued care, contributed to their overall recovery; and they discussed areas that may benefit from new technology.
